As part of our commitment to continually improve our infrastructure, we\u2019re in the process of upgrading all our shared hosting Windows web servers to Windows Server 2012 R2.<\/p>\n

What does this upgrade give me?<\/h3>\n

With this upgrade, your hosting package (or your customers’ packages if you’re a Reseller) will be on a server with IIS 8.0, giving you the latest security patches, including built-in FTP login restrictions to prevent brute-force attacks and CPU throttling to limit how much each package can use. Windows Server 2012 R2 also has SSL scalability, allowing more sites on our shared hosting packages to implement SSL certificates, providing added security to your websites.<\/p>\n

What about .NET?<\/h3>\n

Windows Server 2012 R2 also means an upgrade to the .NET 4.5.2 framework. 4.5.2 is compatible with any applications built to target previous .NET 4.x versions, and you shouldn\u2019t need to recompile your application.<\/p>\n

There are small number of runtime changes within .NET 4.5.2 that might come up if you do recompile your application, but these are all related to security, industry-wide standards, or correcting previous incompatibilities.<\/p>\n

We have also updated many of the application resources available to you, including Helicon, ASPUpload, and ASPPDF.<\/p>\n

When will these upgrades be taking place?<\/h3>\n

This upgrade will be taking place over the next few months, always taking place late at night to reduce any potential disruption to you and your websites. With each server, we will keep the Heart Internet Status Page<\/a> updated and you will receive an email letting you know when it\u2019s happening for your website.<\/p>\n

Your files and databases will be protected during this upgrade, and there should only be the minimum amount of downtime for your website.<\/p>\n
