It\u2019s where they can upload files, install a programme, or check their email.<\/p>\n<p>Since it\u2019s their main point of contact with your business, it\u2019s important that you use branding elements to make it clear that this is part of your web hosting just as much as your website is.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Changing the details <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Make your brand name and contact information visible. This not only helps to reinforce your brand name and but also customers\u2019 trust since you\u2019re letting them know that they can quickly and easily get in touch with you whenever they need to.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Adding your name <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Your customers\u2019 control panel says \u201ceXtend\u201d at the top by default. You have the option to change it and add your own business name, or whatever other name you want for your control panel.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21022\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heartinternet.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/generic-control-panel.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"275\" height=\"61\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To change the name of the control panel:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click \u2018Configure eXtend\u2019 under \u2018Reseller Preferences\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Under \u2018eXtend Brand Name\u2019, enter your new name in the text field next to \u2018Brand Name\u2019 3. Click \u2018Update Now\u2019<\/li>\n<li>The name will now appear at the top of your customers\u2019 control panel<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heartinternet.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/extend-brand-name.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"396\" height=\"85\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Adding your details <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At the bottom of the right menu in your customers\u2019 control panel you\u2019ll see a panel with your hosting business details. This includes links to your website and support site as well as contact email addresses.<\/p>\n<p>Make sure to fill in these links and information, otherwise this panel won\u2019t be displayed in your customers\u2019 eXtend Control Panel.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t skip this step as it gives customers a quick and easy way to access your website and to get in touch with you.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21027\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heartinternet.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/generic-web-hosting.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"452\" height=\"367\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To add your details:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click \u2018Configure eXtend\u2019 under \u2018Reseller Preferences\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Scroll to \u2018eXtend Front Page\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Enter in your company\u2019s name<\/li>\n<li>Enter in your URL<\/li>\n<li>Enter in your support URL<\/li>\n<li>Enter in a sales email address<\/li>\n<li>Enter in a support email address<\/li>\n<li>Click \u2018Update Now\u2019<\/li>\n<li>The details will now appear on your customers\u2019 control panel<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21030\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heartinternet.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/extend-front-page.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"482\" height=\"326\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Changing the address <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This the default address that customers can use to access their eXtend Control Panel: <a href=\"http:\/\/extendcp.co.uk\">http:\/\/extendcp.co.uk<\/a>. Once there, all they need to do to log in is to enter their domain name, password and the CAPTCHA security text.<\/p>\n<p>You can change this address if you like. For example, if you want customers to access their control panel via your website, you can point the eXtend Control panel to a subdomain on your site.<\/p>\n<p>If you want them to access it via their own websites, you can simply point the eXtend Control Panel to subdomains on their sites.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21031\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heartinternet.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/welcome-to-control-panel.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"179\" height=\"209\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here is the Control Panel Web Address, which you can configure it as you see fit.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21033\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heartinternet.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/control-panel-web-address.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"477\" height=\"259\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To set the Control Panel Web Address:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click \u2018Configure eXtend\u2019 under \u2018Reseller Preferences\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Enter in the subdomain you wish to use<\/li>\n<li>Select the domain name you wish to use from the drop-down menu<\/li>\n<li>Click \u2018Update Now\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Allow a minimum of 24 hours for the new subdomain to work<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Adding Google Translate <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re selling hosting internationally, you can provide customers with a control panel in their own language.<\/p>\n<p>While we\u2019re not able to provide multilingual control panels at this time, due to the nature of shared hosting, we can offer the option to add Google Translate to their control panel. This will help translate most of the content on the page in many languages.<\/p>\n<p>To add Google Translate to your Control Panel:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click \u2018Configure eXtend\u2019 under \u2018Reseller Preferences\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Check the box next to \u2018Google Translate enabled\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Click \u2018Update Now\u2019<\/li>\n<li>The Google Translate button will appear<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21034\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heartinternet.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/google-translate.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"467\" height=\"137\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Forwarding customers to a logout page <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When a customer logs out of their control panel, they\u2019re automatically sent back to the initial login page. This is the default address.<\/p>\n<p>However, you have the option to change it and set a different logout page that you want them to see the moment they log out.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s up to you decide which page you want to set as the logout page. It can be anything from your website\u2019s homepage to a special offer landing page or a new product page that you\u2019d like to promote and entice customers to buy.<\/p>\n<p>To add a logout page:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click \u2018Configure eXtend\u2019 under \u2018Reseller Preferences\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Under \u2018Logout Page\u2019, enter in the URL you want customers to go to in the text field next to \u2018Exit page\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Click \u2018Update Now\u2019<\/li>\n<li>The customers will now be sent to that page when they log out<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21037\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heartinternet.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/logout-page.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"469\" height=\"114\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Creating a custom login page<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While we\u2019ve designed the eXtend Control Panel login page to be as clean and intuitive as possible, you have the option to create and use your own.<\/p>\n<p>Since cross-site requests are permitted for our login page, this means you can create a login page on your own site that automatically directs your customers to their control panels.<\/p>\n<p>Now, because our login process includes a CAPTCHA, you\u2019ll have to include it on your login page as well. All you need to do is to copy and paste it from our code.<\/p>\n<p>Keep in mind that creating and using your own login page only works if you don\u2019t set eXtend as a subdomain on each website (such as control.genericscreenshotdomain.com). In this case you\u2019ll need to look into how you can use our API to request a pre-authenticated login URL, which allows your customers to use their control panel directly from the login on your site.<\/p>\n<p>To create a custom login page:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Create an HTML page for your site<\/li>\n<li>Include a form in your page<\/li>\n<li>Have the form post to:<\/li>\n<li>http:\/\/www.extendcp.co.uk\/login.cgi<\/li>\n<li>Include an input field with the name \u2018username\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Include an input field with the name \u2018password\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Include the code for the CAPTCHA:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21038\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heartinternet.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/captcha-code.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"483\" height=\"206\" \/><\/p>\n<ol start=\"8\">\n<li>Upload your page onto your site<\/li>\n<li>Your customers will now be able to log in<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Changing the theme <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The eXtend Control Panel provides your customers with everything they need to manage their websites. You have the option to change the look of the control panel to have it match your site and branding.<\/p>\n<p><em>Selecting a theme <\/em><\/p>\n<p>You can choose between three main themes for the eXtend Control Panel: Simple, Modern, and Advanced.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21041\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heartinternet.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/control-panel-theme.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"475\" height=\"239\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To choose a theme:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click \u2018eXtend Themes\u2019 under \u2018Reseller Preferences\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Choose one of the three themes<\/li>\n<li>Click \u2018Apply Brand\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Your control panel will now be in that theme<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>Selecting a banner <\/em><\/p>\n<p>You can also select one of the many banners we\u2019ve created. There are lots of options available so you can use whichever you believe best fits your brand and website.<\/p>\n<p>If you go to the \u2018This is Your Preview\u2019 section, you can see how each theme and banner look so you can decide which ones work best for you and your customers.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em>One thing to keep in mind is that with the Simple and Modern themes, the name of your control panel will be displayed on top of the banner image you choose. In this case, we\u2019d recommend you go with a simple banner image to ensure the text is easy to read.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21043\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heartinternet.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/selecting-banner.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"468\" height=\"386\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To select a banner:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click \u2018eXtend Themes\u2019 under \u2018Reseller Preferences\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Choose your theme under \u2018Select a Theme\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Choose your banner under \u2018Now Customise\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Click \u2018Apply Brand\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Your banner will now be used<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Uploading your own banner <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you find that none of the banners available work for you, you can also create and upload your own banner. Just make sure that it\u2019s in a .JPG format and also that it\u2019s not too large in size.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Since each theme comes with a different dimension for the top banner, you need to make sure that your custom banner is the same size.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21044\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heartinternet.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/upload-custom-banner.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"476\" height=\"156\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here are the banner dimensions for each theme:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21046\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heartinternet.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/banner-dimensions.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"481\" height=\"161\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To upload your own banner:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Create your banner in your image editor and save it<\/li>\n<li>Click \u2018eXtend Themes\u2019 under \u2018Reseller Preferences\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Choose your theme under \u2018Select a Theme\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Click \u2018Advanced Settings &gt;\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Under \u2018Upload Custom Banner\u2019, click \u2018Choose File\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Select your banner image<\/li>\n<li>Click \u2018Apply Brand\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Your banner image will now be on the control panel<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Editing the HTML and CSS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you want to further customise the look and feel of the control panel, you can also edit some of the HTML and all of the CSS to create a unique site.<\/p>\n<p>To do that, you can download a simple HTML and CSS file from the eXtend Themes page to use as a guide. There\u2019s also the option to select a default theme, click \u2018Customise Ready to-go brand\u2019 and then edit the HTML or CSS code.<\/p>\n<p>To edit the HTML or CSS:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click \u2018eXtend Themes\u2019 under \u2018Reseller Preferences\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Click \u2018Advanced Settings &gt;\u2019<\/li>\n<li>In the box under \u2018Upload HTML Template and Preview\u2019, paste in any HTML changes you have made<\/li>\n<li>In the box under \u2018Upload CSS File and Preview\u2019, paste in any CSS changes you have made<\/li>\n<li>Click \u2018Apply Brand\u2019<\/li>\n<li>The changes will be applied<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If you make changes to the HTML code, make sure to keep the [BODY] element in the middle of the page because this is where the main part of the control panel will go. Also, keep in mind you can\u2019t add tags since the server will add those in.<\/p>\n<p>If you need more help, at the bottom of the page you\u2019ll find a frequently asked questions section with more information and advice on how to customise your control panel.<\/p>\n<p>You can always revert to the default control panel. To do that, simply select a new theme at the top, then click \u2018Apply Brand\u2019. This will automatically change your control panel to the basic version.<\/p>\n<h2>Customising the Domain Control Panel<\/h2>\n<p>The Domain Control Panel is where your customers can make changes to their domain names. They can edit their contact information, the features for their domain name, their DNS records, and more.<\/p>\n<p>You can also change some elements to the Domain Control Panel to have it match your brand, just not as many as with the eXtend Control Panel.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Adding your details <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can display your contact information in the Domain Control Panel just like in the eXtend Control Panel. However, you can set the logout page to any page you like, from your site\u2019s homepage to a special offer landing page.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21053\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heartinternet.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/logout-page-custom.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"490\" height=\"129\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To add a logout page:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click \u2018Domain Control Panel\u2019 under \u2018Manage Domain Names\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Under \u2018Logout Page\u2019, enter in the URL you want customers to go to in the<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>text field next to \u2018Exit page\u2019<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>Click \u2018Update Now\u2019<\/li>\n<li>The customers will now be sent to that page when they log out<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Changing the theme to match the eXtend Control Panel <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To ensure consistency across your website and systems, you can have your Domain Name Control Panel match your eXtend Control Panel.<\/p>\n<p>To change the theme:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click \u2018Domain Control Panel\u2019 under \u2018Manage Domain Names\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Scroll to \u2018Domain Control Panel Customisation\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Check the box next to \u2018Use your eXtend theme\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Click \u2018Update Now\u2019<\/li>\n<li>The Domain Name Control Panel will now use the same theme<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Customising Webmail<\/h2>\n<p>While some of your customers will prefer to download their email onto their devices, others may choose to use the Webmail system.<\/p>\n<p>You have the option to customise the login page for when customers visit their Webmail page, whether they do it through the eXtend Control Panel or through a domain or subdomain of your choosing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Branding the login page <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Within the Reseller Control Centre, you can customise the Webmail login page to match your site and branding. This custom page will only show up if you activate a new address for the webmail or if your customers log out of Webmail from the eXtend Control Panel.<\/p>\n<p>If you choose to create your own login page, make sure to keep the [BODY] tag in the middle as this is how the login page will bring in the form for your customers to use to log in.<\/p>\n<p>You can either create a full HTML file and upload it to the Reseller Control Centre, or you can paste the HTML code in.<\/p>\n<p>To create a login page:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click \u2018Configure Webmail\u2019 under \u2018Reseller Preferences\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Design your own login page in a text file, making certain to include [BODY] in the centre<\/li>\n<li>To upload a saved HTML file:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Click \u2018Choose File\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Select your file<\/li>\n<li>Click \u2018Upload Now\u2019<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21055\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heartinternet.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/brand-email-login-page.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"385\" height=\"262\" \/><\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li>To paste in the HTML:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Copy the HTML from your file<\/li>\n<li>Paste into the text box under \u2018Paste HTML\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Click \u2018Update Now\u2019<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21056\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heartinternet.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/paste-html.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"484\" height=\"283\" \/><\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li>The login page will be created<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Changing the address <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The default address for your customers to access their webmail is: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.outitgoes.com\">http:\/\/www.outitgoes.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You can change this, too. If you want customers to access their email via your own website, you can simply point Webmail to a subdomain on your site.
