Keeping the momentum going<\/h4>\n

If you run a blog or other large content site, chances are you’re going to need imagery on a regular basis, so avoid the trap of creating a narrow, specific look for your images that’s time-consuming or difficult to maintain in the long term. Ideally you want to create a consistent enough look for your website so that your visitors can recognise your image\/look out of context, but not have so many rules and restrictions that you run out of steam.<\/p>\n

The benefits of generics<\/h4>\n

In an ideal world you’d want to use different bespoke images for every situation, but as that’s rarely possible, it’s helpful to have a practical set of your own images on hand that can be reused easily. It’s worth spending a good amount of time creating them initially so they age reasonably well and you don’t get bored of them. Dividers, default blog post images, word clouds and general imagery related to your niche always come in useful, particularly if they’re creatively branded with your name or logo in some way.<\/p>\n
