How do I recover deleted mail from my Exchange mailbox?

If you have an Exchange mailbox, you may be able to recover emails that have been permanently deleted from your Deleted Items folder, provided they are still within the mailbox’s configured deleted-item retention period.

In Outlook desktop:

• Open Outlook and select your mailbox.
• Select Deleted Items.
• Select the Folder tab.
• Select Recover Deleted Items from Server.
• Select the emails you want to recover.
• Select Restore Selected Items or Recover.

In Outlook on the web:

• Sign in to Outlook on the web.
• Open Deleted Items.
• Select Recover items deleted from this folder.
• Select the emails you want to recover.
• Select Restore.

The recovered messages will normally be returned to the Deleted Items folder or their original location, depending on the recovery method and Exchange/Outlook version.

Note: The ability to recover deleted messages depends on the Exchange mailbox configuration and its deleted-item retention period. Messages that have exceeded the retention period may no longer be recoverable through the standard recovery options.
