Can I use my own SMTP server?

When sending emails out, it may be faster and more convenient to use a different SMTP server than mail.your-domain.com.  Your ISP might also only allow you to use their own SMTP server, rather than an external one.

Simply enter in the SMTP server where needed in your mail program, and you should be able to send emails immediately.

You may need to update the SPF record for your domain.  SPF is an email validation system designed to check that incoming mail is being sent by a host authorised to send email from that domain.  If your domain has one, simply edit the SPF record in your Domain Control Panel to include the SMTP server you are now using.
