Why do some of my files appear with a red background in File Manager?

If your files have a red background in File Manager, this means that the file has incorrect permissions and has been blocked

If a file has permissions that would allow external users to write to the file (such as 666 or 777), we block the file to prevent hacking or other problems on the server, and you may have problems accessing that file through your website.

Directories and CGI scripts should generally have a permission setting of 755.  755 is:

• The owner can read, write, and execute the scripts or directories
• External users can read and execute the scripts or directories, but not write to them

Other files should have a permission setting of 644.  644 is:

• The owner can read and write the file
• External users can only read the file

This provides additional security to your web space and our servers.
