How do I connect to my site using Dreamweaver?

Adobe Dreamweaver is a web design tool that allows you to create sites on your desktop computer and then upload them into your web space.

To connect to your site using Dreamweaver:

  1. Launch Dreamweaver
  2. Click ‘Site’
  3. Select ‘Manage Sites’
  4. Select the site you wish to edit
  5. Click ‘Edit’
  6. Select the ‘Servers’ category and click the + icon
  7. Enter the following information in the ‘Basic’ tab of the ‘Site Setup’ window:

Server Name: FTP Server
Connect Using: FTP
FTP Address: Your FTP Address
Port: 21
Username: Your Username
Password: Your Password
Root Directory: public_html
Web URL: Your website address

  1. Expand ‘More Options’
  2. Select ‘Use Passive FTP’
  3. Click ‘Test’
  4. When you get the message ‘Dreamweaver connected to your web server successfully’, you have completed the connection

Please note: Application servers and DSN or ODBC connections to the database are not supported.  In certain versions of Dreamweaver, you may experience problems connecting.  Please increase the ‘Connection Timeout’ to 10 seconds, and this should resolve the problem.
