For the past twelve months we have been investing heavily in updating our data centre infrastructure, to ensure we continue providing a first class service hosting for all our customers for many, many years to come.

Hundreds of thousands of people rely on us every day to power their websites, emails, applications and much more. This means it is vital we take a long-term view for our infrastructure, guaranteeing our customers have secure, reliable, fast and great value for money web hosting.

Our data centre refit was commissioned to further ensure value for money for our customers by allowing us to meet the challenges of rising energy prices. We are excited to announce that we have completed the first stage of the project and we want to share how these advancements will benefit you.

Saving our customers money

Designing and building a data centre that offers as much free energy as possible is vital for a modern hosting provider. The alternative is an inevitable passing on of rising costs to customers, a situation we don’t want and we are sure neither do our customers. By investing in new energy saving techniques, we have been able to reduce our costs whilst continuing to safeguard our aim of building a facility that is as green as possible.

Less energy, more power

We have implemented a free cooling process that uses the outside air temperature to assist in chilling water, which is then used within the air conditioning systems within our data centre. The same water is then passed out of this data centre environment and into specially built cooling towers. This is then recycled back into the data centre and the process continues.

Our data centre location in Leeds is ideal for this as the lower than average temperatures will help us to achieve our goal of 98% free cooling all year round.
