How to Enable Two-Factor Authentication | Heart Internet Blog – Focusing on all aspects of the web

Keeping your account secure is a top priority – and enabling two-factor authentication (2FA) is one of the easiest and most effective ways to protect it. Enabling 2FA adds an extra step to your login process so your account will remain secure even if your password is compromised.

Here’s how to switch it on in just a few steps.

Step 1: Head to your Security Details page

Log in to your Heart Internet account and go to the Contacts & Billing Details section. From there, click on the Account Security tab.

Step 2: Enable 2FA

You’ll see the option to enable two-factor authentication. Click it to get started.

Step 3: Open your authenticator app

To enable 2FA, you will need to use an authenticator app on your mobile device such as Google Authenticator or Authy. If you don’t already have one installed, you can do this quickly and easily.

Step 4: Scan the QR code

Using your authenticator app, scan the QR code. If you’re having difficulty scanning the QR code, you can manually enter the setup key into your app instead.

Step 5: Verify your code

Your authenticator app will generate a 6-digit code. Enter that code on the screen to verify everything’s working.

Step 6: Save your recovery key

You’ll now see a recovery key. This is important – if you ever lose access to your authenticator app, you’ll need this to log in. Store it somewhere safe.

You have now enabled 2FA

Two-factor authentication is now enabled on your account. From now on, you’ll be asked for a code from your authenticator app when you log in. If you select ‘Remember me on this device’, you’ll be able to go 30 days before having to verify using 2FA again. We’ll also send you a confirmation email to let you know 2FA is active on your account.
