In order to make it easier and quicker backing up your customers’ websites and databases, and to continue providing you with the UK’s most advanced reseller hosting platform, we have created a brand new backup platform for your customers’ website data.
Premium backupsTo help you and your customers protect against data loss, you can now subscribe to our Premium Backups service. Once you sign-up, we automatically take daily backups of all the websites and databases in your Reseller Pro account without you having to worry about doing it yourself. You can offer this to your customers for free as an added-value service or as a paid extra, the choice is yours.
The new backup service is exclusive to Heart Internet Reseller Pro customers, and our snapshot backups save all your websites’ files and databases from the past 30 days with no limits on the amount of data, saving you a lot of time.

PricingSubscriptions to Premium Backups are based on the number of packages in your reseller account. The pricing tiers are as follows:
- 0-25 sites: £9.99 monthly
- 26-50 sites: £18.99 monthly
- 51-100 sites: £34.99 monthly
- 101-250 sites: £49.99 monthly
- 251-1000 sites: £100 monthly
- For every 100 additional sites the price is increased by £10 monthly
Rates are automatically adjusted should you move between tiers, meaning that you don’t have to do anything should your circumstances change.

Get startedTo sign-up to our Premium Backups service, log-in to your Reseller Control Centre, and in ‘Manage Hosting Accounts’ click on the ‘Snapshot Backups’ tab.

1. Does this service include backup of domain mailboxes
2. Is there a method for restoration of an individual mailbox from the daily backups
Thanks

(Pro Reseller)
Hi,
This is a great service… however, it has a big pitfall for me.
One of my clients has a bout 100 sites of his own that i never get involved with… It would be good if we could select which sites we wanted to back up or stipulate the Hosting Packages that we wanted to back up, not just simply EVERY website in our account…, otherwise I am in the £100 a month tier… when I could easily be in £49 or below, and I would happily pay that….
Let me know if I have missed the pint and this is possible after all.
Hi Alex,
Is this using ZFS snapshots?
Great add-on, this is just what I need. Does it backup MySQL database too?
Hi Sam,
Yes it backs up all web files and MySQL databases.
Matt
Hi Kevin,
Thanks for getting in touch.
You are correct, the backups are automatically done for all packages in your Reseller Pro account.
Matt
Hi Gerrish,
The backups are for all web files and MySQL databases, they do not include email.
Matt
Great addition to your service, although I do agree with Kevin, it would be really useful if we could choose which packages get backed up this way and which do not as we have a bunch of accounts that really don’t need this service, but some it would be fantastic for. Perhaps a future feature?
Hi Rebecca,
This isn’t something that we’re looking at right now but we will keep you posted with any developments.
Cheers,
Rob
Hi Keith,
Thanks for your comment. Our snapshots are a combination of diff/librsync which contains all up to date files from the source plus a collection of files that explain what changes need to be made to make the files represent what their state was at a previous point in time. This is a snapshotting system that works on top of a filesystem rather than a filesystem with snapshotting built in.
Cheers,
Rob
Hi, great feature but I have a question if you don’t mind:
When you restore does it completely replace the entire live site? And what about the database?
Or is it possible to download the files and just restore what we need / get the rows from the database we require?
Or even if it could restore to another location
Thanks
Hi Simon,
You can choose where the backup is restored to; you can overwrite its present location or restore it as a separate directory.
Databases can be restored on a per-database basis, but they only restore directly to the database’s current location right now.
There is no direct download option at present, but we will keep you posted on any developments.
Cheers,
Rob
Hi, I see backups are already being made on my sites without a subscription to this service, so presumably I could then access these if I needed to by subscribing. Upon signing-up, do you still get access to the past 30 days, or just the latest one backup? Also, prior to subscribing, is there any set frequency for when the snapshots are taken? Some sites were last backed-up last Fri, others today, so I’m not too sure what the pattern is! I know with a subscription this then becomes daily.
Kind regards
Mike
Very nice website ! : )
Hi,
A great idea. Can I ask; is this just for hosting packages or does it also apply to virtual/hybrid/dedicated servers?
Cheers
Carl
Hi Carl,
Thanks.
The backups are for shared web hosting accounts, servers are not included in these backups. We have an alternative snap shot backups system for VPS and Hybrid Servers.
Matt
I would certainly pay to use this if it was on a selected package basis as I have a number of websites where the backup of data is crucial. However, I have a lot of 1 page websites which never change and don’t need backing up so this pushes the cost up to the point it’s not feasible.
Hi Dean,
Thanks for your comment. You’re right that these backups do not operate on an individual package basis but we will keep you informed of any developments.
Cheers,
Rob
I just do not get it:
As resellers we know that HI do back ups and now wants us to pay up to £100 a month for something that you already do. If a site goes down you charge us £25 to put it back which I think is fair enough: BUT to charge us up to £100 a month I think that it taking the biscuit…
It is something that we have asked for for a long time and now you decide to do it BUT penalize us for it.
If it was something that you had to set up from scratch I could understand, but as I have already said “YOU” already do back ups..
I can only put this down to GREED (how can we get more)…not looking after your customers
Davide
Totally agree with Rob, Rebecca and Kevin. The backup feature is great but the cost for myself would be the high tier which is not feasible as in order for this to work I would need to sell this feature to 1 in 4 of my customers (just to break even).
Adding the cost onto the current hosting isn’t an option since users are already paying a fixed fee (would require new subscriptions) + not to mention the negative damage to our brand due to pushing up prices to pay for a new feature which many wont want!
A credit system would be much much better (like what you have with the domain names).
e.g. You purchase 50 backup credits which can then be applied to the 50 hosting packages you choose. If you run out you buy more credits / renew with credits.
This would allow us to sell this as an add-on and as such make it profitable. If you had this I suspect all the people above and others would jump to purchase as the product itself if great.
On a side note, it would be good if the customer could control the backup/restores by the extend control panel.
I too like the sound of this service, but would only want it on selected accounts. Looking forward to updates on this service.
I would like to add my voice to the view that it would be very attractive if we could select the websites to be backed up. I have lots of websites which have no database and don’t need to be backed up.
Please consider adding that feature.
Hi Jonathan,
Thanks for your detailed response. If you submit a feedback form with this information, our product development team will consider this for the future.

Hi Jamie,
Thanks for your comment. Glad to hear that you’re interested in this service.
Cheers,
Rob
I think this is a great feature and something I’ve been waiting on for a while.
Would be very interested in this is it were on a selectable site-by-site basis instead of a per-website basis. Once that’s in place I’ll be getting out my credit card 🙂
Hi Peter,
Glad to hear that you’re interested in these backups. We’ll keep you up to date with any developments for them.
Cheers,
Rob
Just tried to get a site restored @ £25 via support and was told I have to sign up to “Premium backup” (cheapest option for me nearly £60 for min 3 months) to do the same thing. “Premium” only in terms of cost in my opinion.
Hi Rob,
This service puts you in control in terms of the backup and restoration. It is also a much quicker way of restoring a backup than having to contact us.
Matt
Just to repeat what others have said …if I can select the accounts I wish to back-up then fine.
Heart User to offer to restore a site from tape backup for £50-60 a pop, I built my pricing around this, and can’t just pay for this service without a major pricing rethink.
And now as I am not on the snapshot backups to restore a site will cost me £150 (as I would need to go onto the backup service for a minimum of 3 months). That is quite a leap!
Also, I have many account that just provide email or web forwarding I gather the number of hosting accounts on the reseller account triggers the price-band regardless of whether they do or do not host a website/database… so on this service as its stands you are paying for accounts where back-ups do not provide any benefit what so ever.
I concur with everything said in Jonathan’s post as well as many of the others that would like to see this available on a per package basis. I hope HI Please take note.
Sure, but it’s too expensive if you’re selling small hosting packages. HI really need to rethink this to give their resellers more control.
Likewise I agree that this should be something which can be applied to individual sites. It makes no sense for a reseller to have this pricing model.
As much as I like this as a service, I spend too much time juggling my packages to stay below the threshold, as there a literally only 4 of my sites I need this feature for.
One option I am looking into is having a reseller account at another host to manage my non-daily backup accounts.
I think if enough people did this, then Heart would have to act. I don;t believe they will as not only does it keep the amount of websites down for resellers, but it’s an easy win for them.
Other than this issue, Heart are fantastic.
