What we’re looking forward to at WebDevConf 2012 | Heart Internet Blog – Focusing on all aspects of the web

WebDevConf is unique in a number of ways, and for this reason it is a real highlight in our web development events calendar.

Started in 2007, the Bristol based web development event has a real sense of excitement, creativity and enthusiasm with the chance to meet a fantastic mix of people including those who are just about to embark on their careers as developers, and industry stalwarts who are ready to share some of their experiences.

Here are just a few reasons why we are looking forward to WebDevConf on 19th October:

The speakers

This year’s line-up features some real industry heavyweights from some of the most recognisable companies in the world. Shane Tomlinson and Andrew Spooner bring with them a wealth of experience from their backgrounds at Microsoft and Mozilla respectively, whilst geek.com’s “modern superhero” Syd Lawrence is also in attendance.

Keir Moffatt is another speaker at the conference who is ready to talk his work with some impressive clients such as Zurich Insurance and Aardman Animation. Robbie Manson, David Burton and Jack Franklin are also amongst the speakers who all have CVs to be jealous of.

Topics up for discussion at the conference this year include “What does identity mean in an ultra-connected society?” and “Creativity, innovation, & our responsibility to f*** about”.

With extra time specifically for Q&A at the end of each talk, there is some invaluable information and insight for people at all stages of their career to be gained from this year’s speakers.

The mix

It’s not all students at WebDevConf, the event has grown to be extremely popular with people from all levels of web development. Pros mix with beginners to discuss ideas and share experiences which enable people to network and bounce ideas around with the hope that everyone can learn something new.

There is also a great mix of sponsors set to attend who can provide answers and information on the spot.

The atmosphere

There is a real party flavour to WebDevConf as things move quickly during the one day only event. Organisers like to shake things up each year giving each successive event something fresh to think about.

There is something for anyone who is interested in web development and because the event is smaller than some of the others on the calendar, we find the atmosphere relaxed as well as lively. Anyone who is attending should find that this is a great way to meet people and get some valuable information on web development and other issues surrounding the industry.
