Why should I buy a .CO domain name?
• They have a trustworthy appearance and consumers feel confident with them.
• There are plenty of great names left, unlike older extensions such as .com and .co.uk.
• It’s a short extension and so easy to remember.
• Studies have shown that .co names are mentally associated with commercial, corporate or company websites – ideal if you have an ecommerce store or any other kind of business or service.
• Protect your brand – buy the .co version of your .co.uk or .com to avoid squatters or competitors registering it.

What can I do with a .CO domain name?
Want one, but not really sure what you can do with it? Here are a few ideas:
• Buy a short .co name to use as a URL shortener. Twitter have registered t.co, and you can create your own URL shortening service by using your own domain name with a free https://bit.ly account. You can open it up as a service for others to use, or simply use it yourself to make your tweeting more personalised.
• Use it as an information mini-site with brief details about who you are and what you do. Add your address, phone number, website(s), Twitter account and Google Maps location and put your new, short URL on your business cards. As an added bonus it will also give you another backlink to your site(s), and provide another search engine result for your brand.
• Buy a .co to do that project that you keep meaning to start. Once you have the domain name, you have a starting point and an incentive to get going with it. So if you’ve been intending to set up that photo gallery, move that subdomain, or start a new affiliate site, now’s the perfect time to buy the name for it.

I can imagine spelling my address over the phone:
– … dot co
– ???
– dot co
– You mean co uk?
I can see where you are coming from, butas more and more people use it (600,000+ registered so far) that will diminish very quickly and with the likes of Twitter using it (t.co),the masses will soon get used to it.

The URL shortening is a good example but as I understand it I cannot register 1,2 or 3 character domains through Heart.
You can’t register 1 or 2 letter .co domains in normal searches with any registrar. You can register 3 letter .co domain names with us (if available). You can still get a short URL of 4 or 5 characters plus extension though!
