Great examples of content marketing that made me stop | Heart Internet Blog – Focusing on all aspects of the web

Websites such as https://onesecond.designly.com/ really drive home how much content is being created and published on the internet every day. Additionally, the quality of content being made available for free gets better and better every year, raising the bar for what is expected. Being heard above this endless noise is a huge challenge for businesses and website owners.

Here are five examples of amazing content marketing that cut through my own personal filters and made me stop and take notice.

A guide based on personal experience

How I built a top 100 blog in 12 months is a blog post so big you may be put off, but there is no filler and it is all great information for anyone who owns a small blog or wants to start their own blog and make it a success. There is a link to download it as a PDF at the bottom of the post as well.

Infographic

Everyone seems to be riding the infographic bandwagon at the moment, but few are doing it as well as KissMetrics. As well as looking great, you also learn some really useful information that will help you with your website. They have their full catalogue of infographics here.

Step by step guide

If there was ever a case study in how to corner a market it is Moz.com’s beginner’s guide to SEO. Easy to follow and covering everything you would ever need to know, this is an essential read for any website owner who wants to rank well on Google. They’ve also got loads of other resources on this handy page https://moz.com/learn/seo.

Regular content

Neil Patel is a serial creator of amazing content, so much so it is difficult to pick out just one example. Neil’s definitive guide to growth hacking is typical of the in-depth and practical content he creates regularly.

A new perspective

Google has championed the idea of the Zero moment of truth “…which occurs after the consumer sees an ad for a product, but before a purchase is made in store. More precisely, it's the moment when a shopper goes online to research a product and decides whether to make a purchase.” Google has created an entire website dedicated to the concept along with a free book that is definitely worth a read.

What do they have in common?

The characteristics all these examples of content marketing share that you can apply to your own efforts, are:

  • They are practical and useful
  • They are in-depth
  • They look great
  • They are easy to share

You don’t have to be first to the table with an idea, and a lot of the topics in my examples had been done before elsewhere, but what they did that was new, was to go in to previously unheard of detail and they also made them look beautiful.
