We’ve been getting busy with social network adoption recently! Following our official launch on Google+, we’re happy to announce that we’ve now developed an active presence on Pinterest. Check out our boards and follow Heart Internet here.
If you’re not familiar with Pinterest, take a look at Econsultancy’s article What is Pinterest and why should anyone care? Whilst Pinterest is a fantastic social network for designers and other visual creators and appreciators, it’s also an extremely valuable tool for businesses to attract and connect with customers. We’ll be following up with blog posts on how to get started with Pinterest and how to leverage it for your business, so keep an eye on the blog for helpful tips.
Heart Internet + Pinterest
We already have twelve boards set up, ranging from general geek products to what Heart Internet used to look like to useful tutorials we’ve spotted around the web. We’ll be adding more boards and hundreds more pins in the future, so don’t forget to bookmark our page or follow us to avoid missing out.
Some of the resources we post will be found on Google+ and Twitter as well, but plenty will be completely unique in line with our policy of not saying the same thing across all the different networks. Pinterest’s uniqueness is rooted in its emphasis on visuals and simple usability, so it’s very different to the other networks we’re currently active on.
5 reasons to join us on Pinterest
• Quick access to the blog posts and free resources you love.
• Your site might well be featured there already (and if it’s not there yet, you’ll have the chance to make it there soon!).
• Lots of great tutorials and inspiration.
• We’ll be opening up our boards to public pinning for limited periods so you can get involved and share your own stuff.
• Pinterest is insanely addictive. In a good way.
Signing Up
Even though it’s still invite only, all boards and pins are public so you don’t need an account to browse. Invites seem to typically be taking a day or two to come through, so you can always request one directly from the homepage if you aren’t yet a member.
Feel free to leave a comment below with your favourite geek/tech/web related pin or resource and we’ll like it or repin it accordingly.
See you there!

Many thanks for this Jenni – this was news to me! I’m so busy with customers that I get little time for trawling for such news – the Heart Internet blog has proved to be a great source of useful and relevant info!

Thanks Martin, glad you find the blog useful ๐
Thanks for featuring my website on the client spotlight page ๐ (Eclipse Design)
I would really highly advise using pinterest, if you read their terms and conditions you have signed up and agreed to let them sell anything that you upload, this in many cases would constitute a breach in copyright especially when displaying clients data
sorry I meant against using
Hi Warren, thanks for your comment – you raise a great point. The majority of things we’ve pinned are from our own site and/or created by us. We are more than happy to take down any other pins as requested, even if they are repins already existing on Pinterest. From the things we’ve pinned only a very tiny minority are ‘usable’ enough to sell, for example several are customer screenshots which anyone can make and so on. It will be interesting to see if Pinterest change their terms in any case, as they’re seeing so much pressure.
Hi Jenni
Yes I appreciate the fact that they guys at HI are intelligent enough to guard what is submitted and kind enough to remove whatever is requested.
Due to these very terms is the reason that we refuse to use hopefully the pressure works and they sort their terms to be reasonable, the only problem though that I would have with that is it is difficult to know if they remove and later put back in different wording a little stunt that Paypal are only too renown for
Face Book, Twitter; Google+ and now pinterest..
For small one man companies how and when do we get the time to do all this..I think that its gone all CRAZY..
How did we used to manage? in my opinion you need someone dedicated to this social media stuff full-time
Very true Davide, have you had a look at our post ‘Making Social Media Work For Your Business’? It looks at passive social media, which is a better option for smaller companies. Alternatively, depending on your business and location, you may be able to find an intern or student willing to work on a part-time basis. But the best advice is that you should spend time where it makes the most sense for your business, which may well mean avoiding social media altogether.
Well deserved Mick ๐
Wow! I didn’t know anything about Pinterest until I read your article. I signed up this morning and I’m already hooked.
Even better Heart Internet have already pinned some of my WordPress video tutorials. Brilliant! (The videos look better on my own site https://www.davcomedia.co.uk/blog rather than You Tube, as they’re hi def, but that’s only a small matter).
Many thanks to Jenni for her original blog post.

This announcement is seriously disturbing and thumbs up to Warren for raising the point.
“..intelligent enough to guard what is submitted and kind enough to remove whatever is requested.” is not quite good enough. Considering the recent furore about copyright infringements at Pinterest, I am vehemently opposed to any of my content being pinned there without my knowledge or consent. Offering to remove it after the fact is like shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted.
