Is your website as secure as your PC? [Infographic] | Heart Internet Blog – Focusing on all aspects of the web

Website and PC security is always a hot topic but the recent Joomla and WordPress attacks that have affected web hosts around the world has yet again pushed the importance of effective website security to the forefront.

However, research we conducted among small business website owners and home PC users, has shown that website security simply isn’t taken as seriously as the measures we take for our home computers.

For example, our survey found that a healthy 96% of home PC users said that they have anti-virus software installed on their computers; when we asked the same question to small business website owners, the figure was just 65%.

Website security was also well behind when it came to the use of secure passwords. 3 in 4 home users said that sensitive data was secured with a strong password, compared to just half of small business websites.

Presented in a retro gaming inspired infographic are the key findings of our security research, which includes a few nuggets of information to help stop yourself from falling victim to hacking and online fraud.
