Following on from last year’s introduction of multisite hosting through FTP, you can now offer your customers the ability to manage multiple hosting packages directly through eXtend.

Once you have set this up, your customers will be able to navigate between their hosting packages from a drop down menu within eXtend.

Creating a group

The first step is to group the customer’s hosting accounts so that our system can see a relationship between them. To do this, go to “Configure hosting accounts.”

    • Highlight the packages you want to group by clicking on them• You will then see the “Group” button has become active under the table. Click this to group the selected packages• Create and name your new group. Naming it after the customer’s unique ID would be a good idea here so you can find them easily later on.

Activating the master login

This group has now been created. To activate access via eXtend, go to “Master FTP and Multisite”.

    • Scroll down to “Multisite FTP” and choose the package group you want to activate in eXtend.• Choose which domain name will work as the master login and click “Create”• Click the tick box in the eXtend column to activate

Logging in

To login, your customer will go to the same page as usual. By using the new “master@” username and password you created, they have access to a drop down menu at the top of the “Account Info” section in eXtend. This allows them to navigate all their hosting packages. Please note: to see the drop down menu they must login using the “[email protected]” username.

    Hi,

When is the API going to be updated to take advantage of these features?

    Thanks!

  • Billy S says:

Update – I have run through this several times and a few points to note.

    1. No drop down appears in eXtend

    2. When at the stage in Multisite FTP, clicking CREATE appears to do nothing. Clicking a second time then shows the grouped accounts. But, if you refresh the page after clicking create only once, the grouped accounts show.

    3. Clicking the tick box in eXtend is fine, but how do we save that chosen feature? When logging in to the Master Accounts eXtend panel there is no drop down.

I have tried this in my main browser, Firefox, and with it not working I tried in Opera, Chrome and Safari with no joy.

Any ideas? Anyone else having same issues? Anyone managed to get it working?

    Hi Billy,

    1. No drop down appears in eXtend

    >> Are you logging in using the “[email protected]” username that you created?

    >> That is a bug we are currently fixing

    >> Just ticking it is enough, it remembers.

    Hope that helps,

    Further update.

Working – Happy Dayze.Nice one HI:-)

  • Billy S says:

    Matthew,

As in 1, guilty as charged. No I was not using the [email protected]

    Works perfectly.

One other thing. Can the password for the multisite login feature be changed from the HI generated one?

  • Simon says:

I have this working. However, our customers access extend through the auto-login in WHMCS.However, changing the username and password in the primary hosting account to [email protected] and password shown in WHMCS, simply logs them into extend normally and doesn’t carry the master permissions. Is this something you might introduce at some point?

  • Darren W says:

Hi Great news and a well needed function, will you be enabling the “Switch to domain manager” function within the control panel?

    Regards

  • bill amos says:

    i am getting no dropdown

  • Dan says:

    Hi.

Will customers have the ability to change this password in the future? I understand it needs to be secure which is why you use generated passwords, but at the same time, some customers do have their own secure passwords which they would like to use? Also, are there any email notifications which we can use to tell customers their password or does it solely rely on us informing them in some way?

    Otherwise great functionality!

    Thanks

    Hi,

This is useful from a management point of view but unfortunately not in a sales point of view.

It would be useful if you could set “grouped” hosting accounts as a package or at the very least be able to specify a price for each group.

For instance I have a client with 8 sites. I have now grouped them but would like to set a special price for his package.

    Thats my 2 cents anyway

  • Charlie Markwick says:

This a great addition to services. Fantastic. If I create a master login for a group of domains, does this allow access to only just one of the domains when logging in using the domain name and password?

  • Stephen Boot says:

Are there plans for Domain Name Control Panels to have grouped logins too?

  • Jenni says:

    Hi Bill,

If you’ve tried a different browser and it’s still not working, please raise the issue with our support team.

    Thanks,

    Hi Billy,

Not at this moment, but it’s something we’re looking into adding.

    Hi Stephen,

We’ll pass your suggestion on to our devs to look at.

    Thanks for your comment!

  • Jenni says:

    Hi Dan,

It’s intended for Reseller use rather than customer use, so for security reasons it will be the generated password 🙂 If you’d like to submit the suggestion about email notifications, we’ll implement it if there’s enough demand.

    Thanks,

    Jenni

  • Jenni says:

    Hi Charlie,

    Thanks for your feedback.

If you have a group containing one.example.org and two.example.org, then set up [email protected] for that group:

    * Logging in as [email protected] will manage one.example.org by default but give you the option of switching to two.example.org

    * Logging in as one.example.org will manage one.example.org only.

    Hope that helps!

  • Freddie says:

    Hey HI,

Any news on the API update for WHMCS?

    Thanks

    Freddie

  • Hi Freddie,

Thanks for your comment. The WHMCS module is developed in-house by them and we don’t have any development input there.

    Cheers,

    Rob

  • Andy says:

hi, I see this is implemented and allows you to control multiple hosting packges BUT NOT DNS.

So when is domain management to included with the multi sites control?

You know it makes sense, at the moment a client with 8 domains has to , logout and back in 8 times to add an “A” record to each domain!

ps. full mapping like plesk would also help this 😉

    Andy

  • Jennifer Brown says:

    Hi Andy,

If you’d like to fill out the feedback form in your Reseller control panel with your suggestions, one of our decision-makers will look into it.

    Thanks,

    Jenni

This is spooky! I only placed my thoughts on multisite hosting at 02.30 this morning on the September blog. Or am I telepathic? Anyway,

I’m off to check this out.:-)
