If you’ve ever searched for a domain name and found it to be unavailable, we can help! Our new domain name backordering service allows you to book a domain name that someone else owns with the aim to register it as soon as it is made available by the registry.

Booking a domain for catching is the best way to ensure you have a chance at grabbing it for yourself as quickly as possible; simply trying to register it as normal means you’re almost always going to miss out to someone else who’s also got their eye on it.

Backordering domain names with Heart Internet

Backordering a domain name with us is quick and easy. Best of all, there are no up-front costs, deposits or hidden fees; you only pay when a domain name is safely in your account. We charge a one-off cost of £29.99 per successful domain name, plus you will need to pay a year’s registration fee.

How to backorder a domain

Simply head to our domain name search and enter your desired name. If the domain is available to backorder, a red ‘Back Order’ button will be shown as below:

Once you’ve ticked the box and added it to your basket, you can follow the check out process as normal:

On completing your back order, you will receive an invoice confirmation of £0.00. Moving forward, as part of the service you’ll receive an email with an approximate drop date and a notification email on a successful catch.

Other things you need to know

• In the interests of being fair, we only book a particular domain name for one customer. If a domain name is unavailable for backordering, the option simply won’t be visible to you when you search.

• The domain name you want to backorder may never drop – it all depends on whether the owner leaves it to expire or not.

• Deleted/expired domain names can take up to 90 days to become available depending on the registry.

Geat feature idea! I may well use it.

One question: if I back order a domain and then a few years down the line have no use for it anymore, can I delete the back order somewhere?

    Cheers

Hi, I was wondering, if the domain has been backordered with another provider, which provider secures the domain? Does it depend on the amount of requests sent per minute/hour etc, server speed etc? Is there anything beneficial in your system that will grab the domain faster than other providers? Thanks.

    Hi Tom,

It’s really down to three things: how good the script is, how far away from Nominet it is, and luck! Our system is one of the most popular with (highly successful) domainers, and it’s been honed over time by some of the most experienced people in the industry – we’re lucky to have it. It’s generally recommended that you book a domain in as many places as possible, and since it’s completely free to book it with us, you don’t have anything to lose.

    Hope that helps!

    Jenni
