Announcing our new Windows Servers | Heart Internet Blog – Focusing on all aspects of the web

Heart Internet is happy to announce that we have recently upgraded all our Windows shared hosting servers to provide you with the best performance possible.

We started the upgrade by moving from Windows Server 2008 to 2012 R2, giving the servers the latest security patches, the .Net 4.5.2 framework, and SSL scalability. As part of this, we also upgraded PHP from 5.3 to 5.6 for most sites.

Once we had the servers on a more secure version of Windows Server, we started building a brand new Hyper-V 2016 cluster, designed to migrate all the webservers off standalone physical hardware.

Made of HP Generation 9 servers, this cluster provides us with complete hardware redundancy, balancing sites across all servers to satisfy performance requirements.

A Dell Compellent Enterprise-class storage system supplies the storage to the server cluster over redundant 10G iSCSI links. Dell’s latest technology automatically balances virtual disks into required RAID sets for optimal performance, making sure there is full redundancy and support no matter the requirements.

We also installed Windows Server 2016 onto the cluster, and we are currently building and testing the OS to see about upgrading all the Windows servers in the new year.

We hope that these changes revolutionise your hosting experience, with faster response times, better uptime, and minimal service impact if anything does go wrong.
