As many of you may have already noticed, we have recently added a new tool to the reseller arsenal, the eXtend CP to Domain CP switcher. Here are some details on the added functionality.

Domain Control Panel

The Domain CP is a control panel not unlike the eXtend CP, which is used to manage the domain settings instead of the hosting package. It can normally be accessed from www.managethisdomain.com, where you can log in using the same details you would use to log in to eXtend.

Once logged in, you will be able to make DNS changes, modify IPSTAGS, unlock .com domains, or any of the other functions normally accessible through the domain management screen. As a reseller, this allows you to give your clients access to domain settings quickly and easily.

You can even customise the DomainCP in the same way as your eXtend control panel. This can be done from the “Domain Control Panel” page accessible through your Reseller Control Centre. To make things easier, we provide an option to use the same theme and branding as your eXtend control panel, meaning any changes made to one will affect the other.

The Switcher

So what is the new switcher for? Put simply, it is a tool to make life a little bit easier for your clients, by letting them switch quickly and easily between both control panels without the need to keep entering details and logging in. When activated the switcher places a link in the top right of each control panel leading to the other control panel. In eXtend this shows up as “Manage Domain” and in the DomainCP it will read “Manage Hosting”.

Clicking either of these links will immediately log the user into the counterpart control panel, removing the need to navigate to a different site and enter their password again – quick and convenient!

If you wanted to use this tool, and allow your users access to it, the only thing you need to do is enable it. This can be done individually on each of your hosting accounts, or you can enable it on every hosting package of a given type. To do so, just navigate to the page to edit a package (or package type) and tick the box at the bottom of the first page of options entitled “Enable eXtend to DomainCP switcher”. The links will then appear on both control panels when your users log in to them. Keep in mind that the links will not show up if you have logged in from the links in your reseller account, as you are able to access the main domain management page, and therefore don’t need access to the DomainCP.
