Inspiration for designing websites that harness 2022’s on-trend colour | Heart Internet Blog – Focusing on all aspects of the web

Earlier in the year, in our blog ‘6 trending colours to inspire your web design in 2022’, we wrote about Very Peri – a shade that the colour experts at Pantone believed would define 2022.

Artists and designers around the world have already started incorporating the colour into their products.

Nail artists are advertising Very Peri manicures. Wallpaper designers have released new Very Peri-inspired rolls. You can already buy sunglasses, phone covers, stationary and clothing in Very Peri tones.

Websites with colour schemes similar to Very Peri are also receiving increased attention and a few have already won design awards this year.

In this article, we’ll showcase some of these sites and others that use similar periwinkle colour schemes, to give you a little extra inspiration for your web designs in 2022.

What is Very Peri?

Very Peri is Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2022.

Every year, the company’s colour experts analyse patterns in all sorts of sectors, from fashion to film to pick out a colour they believe will be popular and influential in the coming year.

Pantone said:

“Encompassing the qualities of the blues, yet at the same time possessing a violet-red undertone, Very Peri displays a spritely, joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expression.”

The power of periwinkle

While Pantone’s Very Peri is a unique colour in itself, it’s certainly similar to periwinkle purple.

Periwinkle is a delicate Mediterranean flowering plant with small blue/violet flowers. The plant’s name was first used to describe a colour in 1922.

With a blue/violet hue, periwinkle is said to have the following connotations:

  • Friendship
  • Memory
  • Innocence
  • Creativity
  • Carefree confidence
  • Curiosity
  • Inventiveness
  • Warmth
