How do I automatically back up my data to my server’s backup drive using cPanel and WHM?

Article Number: 687 | Rating: Unrated | Last Updated: Tue, Aug 11, 2015 at 4:11 PM

Once you set up and mount a backup drive to your server, you can then set it up to automatically back up your data at a time you set.  WHM has some built-in functionality to help you create and manage these account backups in your server.

To set up a backup:

  1. Log into WHM
  2. Click ‘Backup’
  3. Click ‘Backup Configuration’
  4. Specify ‘/backups’ as your default backup directory
  5. Check the box next to ‘Retain backups in the default backup directory’
  6. Select ‘Enable’ under ‘Mount Backup Drive as Needed’
  7. Select the frequency at which you would like to run backups
  8. Select which user accounts you want to back up
  9. Click ‘Save configuration’
  10. The backups will now be automatically stored on your backup space
