cPanel - Website Management Ops - How to back up & restore your website

Ensuring you have a reliable backup of your website is the single most important task for any site owner. Whether you are preparing for a major update, migrating to a new environment, or simply guarding against accidental data loss, having a current "safety net" is essential.

While cPanel offers traditional manual backup tools, JetBackup 5 provides a much more robust, automated, and efficient solution. Unlike manual backups—which can be time-consuming, resource-heavy, and difficult to manage—JetBackup 5 is designed to simplify the process.

We have set up this backup method to always keep a backup of the sites and cPanel from the past 7 days.

To restore a site backup, you can follow these steps:

Log in into your cPanel then navigate to the Files section and access the Jet Backups 5 option

Access the Domains option

By default, the most recent backup will be selected, but you can use the “Choose Other Backup” button to select an older one. Then simply click on the row and use the Restore option:

A new pop up will appear where you can check the items selected and remove any if they are not required.

You can then use the Restore Selected Items button to commence the restoration.

Depending on how large the website is, it can take some time, but in general it does not take longer than one hour.
