Webmin, the web-based interface for administrating your Linux server, allows you to add more IP addresses to your server.
In order to add more IP addresses, you must purchase them through your Heart Internet Customer Area.
To add the new IP address:
- Open Webmin
- Go to Networking > Network Configuration > Network Interfaces
- Under ‘Interfaces Activated at Boot Time’, select ‘Add a new interface’
- Since you are adding a virtual interface, the ‘Name’ will look like eth0:1
- Set the IP address to your new IP address, and set the netmask correspondingly
- Set ‘Activate at boot?’ to ‘Yes’
- Click ‘Create and Apply’
- The new interface should be in both ‘Interfaces Active Now’ and ‘Interfaces Activated at Boot Time’
- Click ‘Return to Network Configuration’
- Click ‘Apply Configuration’ to ensure that the changes have been saved
You should be able to ping the new IP address. It may take a minute or two to find the server, since this is the first time that the IP address is being used on your server.
