How do I install WordPress?

WordPress is one of the most popular blogging and content management systems on the web.

In order to install WordPress on your website, you need to be on a hosting package that supports MySQL databases.  Most of the packages provided by Heart Internet do support MySQL databases, but if you are on a Starter Pro account, you will need to upgrade to a Home Pro package.

You must also make certain that the directory you are installing WordPress into is empty.  If you want WordPress to run your entire site, you will need to make sure that your public_html directory does not have files in it. 

WordPress is available through our one-click installers, making it easy to install software into your hosting account.  To install WordPress on your website:

1. Log into your eXtend Control Panel
2. Scroll down to the ‘CGI Scripts’ section
3. Click ‘WordPress Blog’
4. Type in the installation directory you want to install into
5. Click ‘Install Now’
6. WordPress will now be installed on your site

Click on the link provided, and follow WordPress’s instructions to install it fully onto your system, including creating a new login and password.
