Is mod_rewrite installed?

mod_rewrite is installed on all of our Linux servers, and Apache-style rewrites are available on all our Windows servers.

mod_rewrite provides you with an easy way to manipulate URLs, taking dynamically-generated URLs and making them closer to static page-style URLs.  You can read the full documentation of mod_rewrite on the Apache website: http://httpd.apache.org/docs/current/mod/mod_rewrite.html.
