What is PING?
PING is a network administration utility that determines if a specific IP address is accessible on the network. It sends an echo request packet to the target host and waits for a response from the host. It measures the time from transmission to reception, and records any packet loss on the way.
PING is used primarily to troubleshoot Internet connections, making it ideal for your first check to see if a server or website is online.
You can access PING through your eXtend Control Panel under Website Help & Diagnostics.
- Log into your Heart Internet Customer Area
- Click on ‘Ping, Trace & NSlookup’
- Enter the IP address you wish to PING
- Click ‘Ping’
- You will get the PING results shortly
You can also access PING through the command window on your computer.
