What is the difference between backup space and Snapshot Backups?

When you purchase backup space, you are purchasing space on a separate server to save your backups to.  You will be given instructions on how to mount the space onto your server in your Control Panel, and the backup space will be accessible just like it was another directory on your server.

You can then set up your backups and save to that directory.  You will then be able to access individual files or backups from the space as required.

When you purchase Snapshot Backups, you will have an entire image taken of your server and stored on a separate server.  You will be able to store one Snapshot image per slot that you purchase, and you can use that image to roll back your server to exactly how it was when the Snapshot was taken.

You cannot restore or access individual files from a Snapshot. Mountable Backup space should be used if you require storage/archiving of single files.

Tip: Restoring a server from Snapshot backups can sometimes cause MySQL corruption if the snapshot is taken when MySQL is running. You should have dumps of your databases on your server before starting a Snapshot backup.
