What is DKIM and can I send emails using it?

Article Number: 243 | Rating: 1.2/5 from 17 votes | Last Updated: Wed, Jul 27, 2016 at 1:40 PM

DKIM (short for DomainKeys Identified Mail) is an email validation system designed to detect email spoofing. A digital signature is included with the message, and is validated by the recipient by using the signer’s public key published in the DNS.  With DKIM, any emails sent through are reviewed by the receiving mail exchange and are marked as not being spam.  Many of the large email providers, such as Yahoo and Gmail, use DKIM to validate their emails.

Unfortunately, we do not support DKIM on our shared hosting platform. You can set up DKIM on a VPS, Hybrid Server, or Dedicated Server, but we would not provide support for any problems caused by setting up DKIM.

If you want to set up a system where mail servers will be able to identify any emails that are spoofing your domain name, you can set up an SPF record in your Domain Control Panel.

You can find out more about SPF records on the Microsoft Sender ID website: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996295(v=exchg.160).aspx
